Line work grounds the spirit of animated characters of WayFinders

Illustration has always helped me to get into character in performance. Illustration also helps secure an open public space for community reflection.

These ink drawings were done on rice paper with chinese brushes and india ink. Most of them took around a couple minutes to make. The deer is from last summer. The hawk came with a song in spring and landed on paper late august. The two together was inspired by two people whose story moved me deeply.

I scaled these drawings to tie to the massive trees framing the hollow as seen above. They served as signs for people alerting them of our work and too keep those participating in ceremony grounded.
