plastic bottle caps – a love poem (to water mammals)

On February 12, 2017 by pampi

I strangle desire

I know deep
Where I drown all feelings of want

Isolation
Too
Is
Genocide
Who will ever miss

A plastic bottle cap on the beach

Today
I tore my stomach open
It looks filled with all the litter of the world
Bags and bags

Those water mammals beaching themselves

Perhaps that’s why I see them
Choking in my dreams
Slowly surely suffocating
Until
One day
Their greatest resistance
Is to say
No more

They’re sentient
Remember

The horror of these deaths
Could I have done anything
else

No no no no no no no…
