Moonlight Occupies Dance?

On November 30, 2011 by pampi

Hello Dance Occupy members!

I am contacting you because you all expressed some interest in doing a movement music intervention for Occupy Boston either as a performer or to help us document the work.

Please RSVP by this FRI 12/2 5pm if you wish to be kept updated on this project. And inform me about upcoming Tues and Wed you will be available starting 6:30/7pm. Based on this, we will determine the next meeting/rehearsal. Right now, we are considering Tues 12/13 or Wed 12/14.

Update:

Last Tuesday 11/22, a small group of us met at MIT to rehearse the Moonlight Sonata component of this piece. My intention for the Moonlight portion recorded below.

Seth H and Brendan G plucked a few minutes of the movement on their guitars as a duet before proceeding into improvisation. I did movement to this and we were all very excited at how beautiful it was!

Our performance venue strategy will not be discussed in this write-up.

Another idea that was aired is how often we might do this. I think a bi-monthly intervention would keep us active and evolving Dance Occupy. We can then have different sets of musicians and dancers meeting in order to perform so all of us don’t have to show up all the time. I think learning something like Moonlight Sonata would allow us to have a consistent exercise to start from that can evolve organically.

It seems Tuesday and Wednesdays are best times to meet. So perhaps we can do 1st Wednesday and 3rd Tuesday of each month.

What do you guys think?

Cheers!
